Job description


The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The Medical Assistant (MA) functions within the administration pre-defined scope of practice guidelines per state location of practice.

  • Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of patients. Documents a thorough medical history from patient. Contributes to the assessment of patients and administers medications or treatments as ordered. Additionally, will assist with intravenous therapies, including venipuncture to administer gravity drip infusions. Administer vitamins, antibiotics, corticosteroids, and H2 antagonists by the intravenous route, that are mixed and labeled by a pharmacist, registered nurse, or physician. Also provide IV therapy via externally accessed centrally placed catheter, as well as perform central line dressing changes. Perform Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.


  • The Medical Assistant will assist with examinations and treatment of patients in a clinic setting. Responsible to take vital signs, weight/height, chart reconciliation, and record information on patient’s chart. Will assist in collecting samples and specimens and changing dressings. Duties may also include supporting the medical team by sterilizing equipment, preparing treatment rooms and disposing of contaminated waste to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Will need to have excellent time management skills to ensure they are prioritizing their workload effectively.


  • A high school diploma
  • LPN just be a graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • MA must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program. Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant (MA). SD registration as a Medical Assistant required.

Certification (CMA) obtained through a nationally approved certification program for medical assistant, including but not limited to, the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the Nation Health Career Association (NHCA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), etc. Registration (RMA) obtained through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) also acceptable.


  • Competent use of computer systems, software, and Practice Management Systems
  • Commitment to high level customer service when interacting with patients including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment. Being able to triage priorities, delegate tasks if needed, and handle conflict in a reasonable fashion.
  • A calm, friendly manner and patience working with patients and coworkers.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and use of professional written communication when making notes.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
  • Ability to multitask and work independently and function under multiple roles as needed

Job Type: Full-time, Day Shift, Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm, 80 hrs/2weeks
